This year, Deaf Awareness Week falls on the 2nd-8th May 2016.
Please join myHRcareers in supporting this cause.
What is ‘deaf awareness’? Deaf awareness is about helping people who are deaf by promoting the positive qualities of deafness, social inclusion, and general awareness.
The aim of this event is to raise awareness of the challenges faced by the Deaf & Hard of Hearing, especially in the work place, and to promote professional networking amongst a wide range of professionals. For those of us in HR, we know that more movement and progress needs to be made in this area. Let’s start talking about it.
This event also marks the launch of Signlync, an interactive startup that bridges the gap between the Deaf & Hard of Hearing and the hearing world.
Speaking from Signlync will be Gü Dopran, who will talk about her experience growing up Hard of Hearing, the importance of raising awareness of the Deaf & Hard of Hearing community, and Signlync & future workshops.
Also speaking will be a representative from Veran & myHRcareers, who will talk about HR’s need to step up its diversity game and recognising talent, regardless of what it looks like.
Please sign up for your FREE ticket on our EventBrite page.
Refreshments will be provided by No 1 Duke St, a new Independent Neighbourhood Bar in the heart of the Richmond Community. No 1 Duke St is proud to support Deaf Awareness Week & Signlync.
We look forward to seeing you there.
